Banana ginger ice milk
3 ripe bananas, peeled, sliced and frozen
1.5 cups low-fat buttermilk
1 lime, juiced and zested
.25 cup dark brown sugar
1t powdered ginger
Mix all ingredients in a food processor. The taste will not change much when you freeze it — try it now and adjust sugar and ginger to your liking.
Transfer mix to bowl of ice cream maker, and chill in freezer about 30 minutes. Prepare per ice cream maker instructions, then return to freezer to set for about 10 minutes. Serve immediately.
Like most homemade ice milk or sorbet, this will freeze rock hard. If you refreeze leftovers, let them sit in fridge for about an hour before eating.
